A chronological study of significant works of art from prehistoric to the post-modern era with special emphasis on reoccurring themes and the cultural contexts that influence art making. Required of all majors and minors. Offered every year.
Contemporary Art - 1 credit
An examination of developments, major movements, and directions in art from 1945 to the present. Required of all art majors and minors.

Women, Art, and Feminism - 1 credit
A general introduction to the special position of women in art from the 14th century through contemporary eras by illustrating women’s artistic production, and by critically examining the view of women in visual arts. Eras are examined in their cultural context to gain a complete understanding of how women’s art production reflects the particular time and place in which it is produced.
Special Topics in Art HISTORY - 1 or .5 credits
Lecture courses, offered on a rotating basis, that examine specific time periods and movements in Art History. Offerings can include: Asian Art, Renaissance Art, 19th Century Art, Contemporary Sculpture, Minimalism, etc…
